Looking to purchase a unique gift for that hard-to-buy-for person who already seems to have everything? Give the gift of opportunity, enlightenment, inspiration, and education with a ticket to next month’s premier TEDxUniversityofNevada event! As a participant of this event for over the past three years, I highly suggest the gift of this unique experience. The talks and musical performances are guaranteed to get even the smartest person thinking, reflecting, evaluating, and considering new ideas in new ways never before imagined.
For those unfamiliar, TEDxUniversityofNevada is an event that seeks to connect and inspire the community through a series of short lecture-style talks that focus on various ideas worth spreading. The next event will take place Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 and will feature speakers who will appeal to marketers and business leaders as University of Nevada, Las Vegas marketing professor Anjala Krishen, best-selling author David Burkus who wrote “The Myth of Creativity,” and local startup founder Dusty Wanderlich. New this year, TEDxUniversityofNevada has moved the program from a Friday to a Saturday with the intention of allowing more people to attend and to accommodate a more diverse audience.
In the past, TEDxUniversityofNevada events have featured speakers such as survivor Elizabeth Smart, award-winning journalist Sharyl Atkisson, best-selling authors Liz Wiseman and Barry Posner, Reno community members Wendy Damonte and Mark Estee as well as University faculty, students and staff. One of the most viewed TEDx talks of all time, with 8.7 million views, was delivered in 2013 by then 13-year-old Logan Laplante.
Collectively, the TEDxUniversityofNevada event’s talks have witnessed nearly 9 million views online. The event is sponsored by The College of Business Executive MBA Program, The Associated Students of the University of Nevada, Microsoft Licensing, AT&T, University of Nevada, Reno and Peppermill Resort Spa Casino.
